I don't think there are many RPGs in the jap style for our beloved amiga
for something similar, you could try Heimdall 2, Dragonstone, Darkmere ... that's all I can remember now I once saw a preview of a game from Krisalis, that looked much like this kind of RPG, called "Legends" DId this game ever came out ? |

@retroman
Hey, thanks! I usually never look at the ADF zone... I'll get Legends, it seemed to be a pretty good game in the preview I saw |

I like RPG a lot too, and the picture of speris Legacy remember me some great RPG of 'consoles like' of SNES.
But with the SNes, there is more RPG than just Final Fantasy serie. I recommend you some very good Rpg on SNes (that i have all finish and find it very very :bounce :bounce :bounce very fun and fantastic to play because the scenario/graphics/music is wonderfull), if you are really RPG lovers, you will like it. I recommend all others users of this forum to try it, and to love it. Here is my refcommended RPG list of games for SNes: Secret of Evermore. Secret of Mana 1 and 2 (french or english). Secret of the stars. Seyken Densetsu3 (in fact, it is secret of mana 3translated in english). Terranigma. New horizons, uncharted waters. New horizons, uncharted waters 2. with very better graphics, better interface and a lot of new character/quest/story. Chrono Trigger (try it, it is a must !!!). Harvest moon (Try it too because it is very original, there is another version too for the last Nitendo console (& for his emulator with better graphics and lot of more quest, but i cannot emulate it because it is too slow) Illusion of time (french or english). Lufia 1: fortress of Doom. Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinister. And the super classic ZELDA 3 that YOU MUST HAVE PLAYED one time in your life, because it is a great game. So, you can see that the SNES rpg whas not Only the final Fantasy serie, just a very small part of. In this list above, all RPG are not listed because it is very long list, and some are not already 100 % translated. But i repeat to all users of this forum, try all the games because will love it.:bounce :bounce :bounce |

Chrono Trigger (SNES) is the END ALL RPG for the SNES. Absolute genius.
I heard Grandia rocks on the Saturn. And I gotta get Final Fantasy I and II for the Wonderswan Color |

I must admit I am not a big fan of RPGs, I like the odd one or two, but Crhono Trigger is really THE game... I can't remember many games with a plot so good as this one.
I like Shining Force for Mega-Drive too, it has a nice (although a bit too cliche) plot, and the best battle mode I've ever seen in a RPG. @steve_b The sequel for Chrono Trigger indeed exists, it's for the PSX and is called Chrono Cross. I never played (I don't have acess to a PSX anymore), so I can't tell how good it is. @Maverick 357 New horizons, uncharted waters. <= is this anyway related to Terranigma? I Liked Terranigma, it would be nice to see a sequel for it. |

Shining Force 1 and 2 on the Genesis and on the Game Gear are stunning in simplicity and addictivness. The point you make about the battle system is quite true, in my opinion, Shatterhand.
The storyline is intersting, the characters are cool. But the graphics and repetitiveness are less than desirable. And its extremely linear.Still, I love 'em Here is a super site for console screenshots, very much a console version of The Legacy. http://www.retrobase.com/ |

I think Chrono Trigger was later remade for PlayStation. The game was exactly the same in terms of graphics and that, but movies and a better soundtrack were added in.
What do people think of Chrono Cross I wonder? |
