What monitor to get for A4000D & GBAPII RTG with Flicker fixer setup
So, it's time to retire the old Phillips CM18883 MKII.
Soon a new GBAPII RTG is coming and I need to find a good monitor. I will be mainly be using Workbench or playing old games via iGames and WHDLoad. A nice to have would be having speakers and eventual in white colour Any recommendations? Thank you! Last edited by NunoUFO; 12 November 2022 at 19:21. |

If I understand it any VGA capable monitor will do. Obviously newer monitors don't have VGA inputs anymore *AND* are not 4:3.
You don't need 15KHz so the world is your oyster. I always used to like the Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450. (If you want CRT). Finding a 4:3 CRT (or even LCD) might be hard these days. Maybe your local computer recycling centre? 7 here for £60 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295142984...wAAOSwf4xiUyIG Last edited by alexh; 12 August 2022 at 15:52. |

Thank you for the link, unfortunately not in Leeds ??
Another question I have is about playing games if the monitor is a more recent one not 4:3, how will it look like, will it streetch? |

Without being able to do the native resolution the monitor will have to upscale and it might look smeared or fuzzy depending on the quality of the monitor. If you're going LCD then you really want to buy something with native resolution of 1024x768. The best quality you can buy. A top end 4:3 LCD from ~20 years ago. This is only my opinion and I have not used many modern monitors, I might be surprised (but I doubt it) |

If you want to keep it 4:3 aspect ratio (or 5:4 rather) there is a good 19-inch Dell 1280x1024 IPS LCD monitor still being sold new.
Not 15 kHz capable though, and you would need external speakers like Logitech Z120 for example or that Dell AC511 soundbar accessory, no pass-through on the HDMI-input-audio to the soundbar though. https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/dell.../apd/210-ajbt/ Otherwise 16:9 that Lenovo Q24i-10 might be a good option and it's 15 kHz capable and has 50 Hz in spec too, good for games with scrolling ... https://espenskogblog.wordpress.com/...rn-led-screen/ (Horizontal frequency 15 kHz – 85 kHz) (Vertical frequency 48 Hz – 75 Hz) Last edited by jbilander; 12 August 2022 at 18:46. Reason: added Lenovo Q24i-10 |
