I’m not surprised at all, this is what monopolies do. They buy up competitors rather than compete.

I remember voice over IP (VOIP) in 1995. The phone companies kept purchasing the startups to stifle innovation in order to retain their copper line markets. It wasn’t until the big cable providers got involved that VOIP became prevalent.

A lot of new tech companies are started now specifically for the purpose of being bought up by Google, Microsoft etc.
