Looking for Simon games

Not the sorcerer ofc .

But Amiga renditions of this game:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_%28game%29

After s2325 posted pictures from games by Harald Müller, I checked some of his other works. One of them is Senso:
http://hol.abime.net/4523

I have a hunch that there are more than one conversion of Simon available on Amiga. If you happen to know one or more please mention them.

If there are enough it will probably be worthy to create a sub-category/quickmatch in HoL for those.

Lol, that is a funny translation of the game. Thx for pointing it out.
Hmmm, I guess I'll have to contribute it myself since it is not yet in HoL.

Thanks for the list silkworm. And all the others for the various mirrors of Xmas Syman (I should have remembered reading about it as it was in one of competitors in one of the Games Making competition ).

I have no tried Buraglio's Simon but I expect that being able to play with the keyboard provides an experience closer to real-life Simon.

There are probably quite a few freeware Simon games, so check the PD lists (e.g. 17-Bit Disk 2724 ASASSINS BACK TO SCHOOL 2) and Aminet (e.g. Simon). Hope that gives you a few more clues about where you might find more Simon-type games......

Thanks for the clues.

Well, I don't intend to do a comprehensive list of all the Simon games (not that obessed with those games). But rather I wanted to see if there were enough of them to justify a sub-category/quickmatch in HOL.

I'll make/fill entries for those that have been mentioned. Then, if someone want to make a comprehensive list it will be welcome

Personnaly, yes. That's why I posted this in HOL contributions.

But if you are interested to do a master list of all Simon games, you can start a thread in Retrogaming General Discussion. I know there is at least one such game on DS (homebrew). Need to find the name in the folder where I store homebrews, so I can post it tonight.

Try the one by Buraglio that silkworm mentioned. It is indeed keyboard-operated and is therefore the closest to real-life Simon. You can change the options on the right side, Wait - time alloted between each if your press - Beep - length of the beep sound - and Space - pause time between each note by the computer by left-clicking and right-clicking on each of them.

Senso is mouse-operated. It has the advantage of having six colours, so if you are a master of normal Simon, you can try it for something harder.

Xmas Syman is a bit weird at first. Like you I was confused at first.
First, don't forget that you can change the options by pressing space at the start menu and then with left and right on the joystick (not that they will change anything important for a single player game).

The thing to understand to play this one is that each joystick direction is attached to a colour.
So for instance, up is red. Then for the others colours, you just have to look at the picture on the screen (blue = right, green = down, yellow = left).

I guess that after a few games you get used to it

The default game mode is memory tester (like normal Simon). Perhaps you can play a bit with reaction test to get accustomed to controls.
Press Return at the start menu to change game modes.
