How do pseudo-3D racing game engines work?
Does anyone know of a description of how games like Lotus, Jaguar, Outrun, etc. draw the road? I assume it's something along the lines of calculating the left and right edge of the road for each scanline and then do some filling, but what are the details? How is the hardware used, and how does the usage compare to other platforms like the Outrun arcade hardware or even the limited Sega Master System? How are tracks defined?
