A500 Space Invaders MB revision
Hi,
I recently acquired an A500 that needs some TLC. I'm no expert, as such can anyone here with far more experience than myself identify this MB revision based on the attached photos? It seems to be very early in relation to my 2 other A500's Regards, Ross. |

Thanks Sim, I did stumble across that after I posted. It has KS 1.3 ROMs so guessing whoever had it originally upgraded. I'm assuming most Rev 3's would have 1.2 ROMs from the factory? Regards, Ross. |

http://amiga.resource.cx/mod/a500.html has the following information;
revision 3: 512kB Chip RAM on motherboard as 16 chips Kickstart 1.2 ROM However I myself never owned a rev3 A500 so do not know this from experience. I read several posts here people claiming commodore shipped stuff with anything that came to their hands but mostly related to rev8a shipped as A500s. Maybe someone with more experience from those days might have more hands-on information. |

Thanks Sim, Yes, that's certainly my experience with C= 64 stuff. It's definetely a "keeper". Interested in what the "buggy" aspect is. Used to this from A1200 MB's specifically with certain vendors accelerators, but hadn't heard of issues with early MB's in A500's. Thanks for taking the time out to reply though |

Were all Kick1.2 Amigas just US keyboards or did you import that from NTSC US/Canada or PAL NZ/Austraila?

If you wonder why it is called by that name, it is because the switch looks a bit like a space invaders character:

Oh, it's just a childish term to describe a certain type of keyboard switch. Thought it might have been something interesting.

If you check back my post from a few years back you will see I had an Amiga with KS 1.2 for sale! Unfortunately, personal circumstances meant I had to sell it but at such a bargain price!
