A500+ Revision 8A adding Fast RAM
Hi,
I have got my Amiga 500+ IDE drive now working and the PFS3 is excellent but I only have 2MB Chip RAM so I can't run all of the whd games I would like to. The processor is taken up with the IDE board and the trap door expansion has the extra chip ram - is there another option for adding Fast RAM? (2MB would be enough) i.e. using a relocator on the cpu or the via side expansion |

If you could find the original ACA500, that would be great.
But I don't remember seeing one for sale recently. It's like only 10 were ever made

My IDE has a cf card - would it be possible to relocate some as fast or even slow ram?

I think your options are to either replace your CPU-socket IDE board with an IDE+RAM board (or accelerator+IDE+RAM board) or to go for a side expansion. There were a ton of side expansion RAM boards back in the day, but you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for one to turn up.

I do not know if the setup would work; but there are FastRAM only cards as well out there. I found one on Ebay;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333971306...YAAOSwhahggcnG (I am not in any way related with the sale, just the first result that came up in EBay for search query; Amiga FastRAM) As I said I do not know if the cake of CPU + IDE + FastRAM board will actually work, never tried it myself. Also there is the question of if the Keyboard / metal shield will sit properly to be considered. There are relocators out there however. There are also cards which provide FastRAM and IDE all as one. Would be the safest bet in my opinion. |

Thanks, i'll consider my option or just leave it as it is (I have a CDTV with 2MB Chip and 8MB Fast and also 1200 so i have some other options there too!)
