Screwed up WINUAE

I have been using WINUAE for quite a while, and have had no issues.
The other day I went to play a game, and instead of the usual loading screen. all I got was a white screen.
I either get a white screen, or I get a screen with a hand holding a disk.
Now I did move my Amiga files to another directory, but a fixed the path in WINUAE.

Any thoughts why my games are not loading.

Check the CD/harddisk section and the path to your Bios roms in WinUAE config GUI (F12). If you see the Amiga disc at start, you‘ve loaded either no or a wrong config file.

In addition, provide more infos. What setup was used, what games do you play (AFD, LHA), have you used a Workbench setup, or a game loader …

Some screenshots would help determine where is the problem. (both your folder structure and WinUAE settings)

There are many things that could go wrong, including hamster not running wheels fast enough....

If you use configurations you'll have to update each one of them with the new location to your disks/HD.

personally I ended up mounting a fake drive (using SUBST or registry) to avoid changing anything in my configs.

That allowed me to port configurations across PCs too.

If you put winuae.exe and winuae.ini in a directory along with your Amiga files and use relative paths, you can move around that directory as you like. No fake drive or anything else needed.

Here's an example config. Like thomas said WinUAE will creat relative paths by default if it's in a folder with the other files (or the other files in subfolders).
Attached Files
File Type: uae Nicky Boum.uae (11.5 KB, 20 views)

Just as thomas pointed out, use of relative paths and portable mode makes it very easy to move configuration from one setup to different one.

It also works with placing it in One Drive and using it from 2 (or more) different computers interchangeably. (the same configuration, if you make change on one PC, it automatically updates the other)

Some things I found to be helpful - create template with default setup (usually A500 in my case with .5 chip and .5 slow) where I modify Input - F5 - Save State, F6 - Quick Save, F8 - Quick Restore, with display and other settings that I like and use template to prepare new games, so that all of them behave the same.
