TFX whdload-slave?

Just wondering...what's the trick of getting this one to work...?

All I'm getting is "Illegal instruction ($10) at $4 (Task 'DH0') when trying to use it. The task is different depending on if I'm trying to use auto or the fpu-enabled one. The one quoted above is for auto. If I try to use the fpu-one it changes to "Initial cli".

Using the tfx-slave downloaded straight from whdload.de and the installer fetches the datafiles from my CUCD15 disk.

Hardware in use: A1200 with Blizzard1230 with 32 megs of ram. Yeah, I know. Not ideal hardware for that game but still...my system is running kick/wb 3.2. Kick 3.1 is available in devs:kickstarts, named as it should.

Whdload is version 18.6 build 6128.

Later I will check better but on your very same configuration I got it working, not bad at all from what I remember, downloaded directly from the eab file server.

on the contrary 68030+FPU is perfect for the FPU version of this game.

Check with FILELOG to see which file is used (tfx, tfx.fpu, etc...) and report name and size.

There are also separate versions of executables to download from HOL. The "new" TFX FPU version is more recent (1997)

Really? I thought it would be even better, maybe not by much but some at least, with a 040 or 060.

I tried the archive Superman linked to as well, but same problem.

If by the "new" TFX FPU version you mean the one at the https://is.gd/A6yk2T URL it didn't change anything either. In fact, it gave me a software failure. As you can probably tell from that, the game itself works if I launch it directly from the data dir (after I assign the did: assign to the data-dir). It's only when I try to use whdload to launch the game it fails. And the reason I want to do that is to see if the joypad controls would make it easier for me to enjoy the game. My ability to remember a gazillion different keys to control a game is unfortunately not what it once was...

Still, I've attached three logfiles here. tfx_log is from my own install. Tfx_aga_log is from the archive Superman gave me the link to. In both cases I used the auto option. The third archive tfx_fpu_log was when I manually selected the fpu-option.

Unfortunately I don't know what the different Type or RC values signify so I have no idea if what is there is normal or not.

As noone can reproduce, this is really difficult to investigate.

Could be interesting to try with WHDLoad 16.7 (latest beta).

Do other kick31 games work on your machine? for instance Virocop, Fire & Ice CD, D/Generation AGA?

I understand it's difficult. I'm not sure exactly which ones require kick31 apart from your examples, but those three do indeed work.

And whdload 16.7 didn't make a difference either. Not for TFX at any rate, but it did make pinball dreams lock up...but that might have happened with 18.6 as well so maybe just a coincidence.

you could create a whdload coredump on the crash. And tell which version you used.

But you're the first one in that case.

I was also very surprised since it has never happened to me before either.

But I'll provide a dump if I can manage to reproduce it. It was using the 1.9 version of the slave in "Nightmare" though.
