Updating WHDLoad
I just noticed on my classic workbench setup that I have an old version of whdload. How do I go about updating it to the latest version without breaking something in my workbench as obviously its already installed.

Just copy the new files in the C directory of the WHDLoad archive over your old ones. That's it.

contents of C in whdload archive is;
DIC Patcher RawDIC WHDLoad WHDLoadCD32 I copied these files over with dopus but I dont think its updated as the new version I used originally on my older setup said 1994-2009, yet if you look below its still 1994-2007. I downloaded this version http://www.whdload.de/whdload/WHDLoad_usr.lha from http://www.whdload.de/ 16.9 the latest version? Maybe Im missing other files I need to copy over? |

I suggest using the included installer, "intermediate level" when asked (second option). As implied by GH, C: is the path where the core files will be copied/updated. In S: sits whdload.prefs (should be edited to set the quit key) as well as your future reg. key (provided you have planned to licence the bugger).
A quick hint : If you mess up hard with your files, just reload ClassicWB from a backup ('rar/unrar the entire directory from time to time, it should do the trick). As a side note, v16.8 should play at least 95% of the preinstalled. |

You copied/overwritten the files to the "c:" folder of your ClassicWB? Doesn't look like you did it.

The one on the official site you linked to is 16.9. Sure you installed it correctly?

I guess so I did exactly what you said, I extracted all files from the new lha, then I copied over all the files from c to my cwb c folder via dopus.
Would extracting the lha with winrar make a difference? |

You put the files (WHDLoad, DIC...) in the 'C' folder of your systems partition (should be DH0. Need some more info (you use ClassicWB right? Which version) to give you a 'walkthrough'

You can also extract the archive in Windows and just copy the files that are in the 'C' folder over to 'DH0:C'. You can do it
