...and PlanetEmu has 20925.

That's beside the point, Jotd was just saying he doesn't miss them but actually play them on real Amiga

And so do I, but yes I don't take the originals out of their boxes anymore. Mostly because from someone else and there's a high chance the disks don't work.

The originals I bought are in my disk box and known good copies are within arm's length and sometimes get played. Occasionally there's a missing one in WHD, but I have it all to do to play through the WHD ones.

And ofc real Amiga. Sometimes I AmigaLive, I don't think Netplay works on real Amiga.

Well they don't average 4 disks per game, probably more like 1.5, so it has many more than GB Amiga Hm well alternate versions will increase it I guess. Dunno if GB has versions, but WHD usually only has 1 version and another if there was an AGA or NTSC version, not necessary version numbers.

And also coverdisks separately, IDK what GB Amiga includes.

I think the important number is the ones you keep to play through, or keep to play again. And that is a vastly smaller number. For Amiga probably max 500 deserve to, and of those probably just under 100 are my jam.

That's one game, two disks and 27 entries on PlanetEmu Just saying that PlanetEmu is not a good source to count games.

Two games, boxing and driving aren't the same (last time I left hooked my steering wheel didn't go well). Still, multiple entries on Planetemu will often have different cracktros, but the same game in many cases. Which leads to another point, if you're used to loading the original, loading a crack with a cracktro, trainer and often not the distinctive copy-protection routine won't necessarily feel the same. I don't actually use a real Amiga anymore, but I can see the appeal.

Hehe, forum disease maybe. I guess it's not important figure out exactly what everyone means and risk derailing. I think CCCP_Alert was mostly sharing a nostalgic memory. Which is 100% correct in this forum

Maybe also start some name-dropping, which games we played back in the day.

It's true that you can play them today, maybe not on real Amiga due to zero retro/gaming budget, or even the opposite, too many computers, no space left. And emulation does lose a little bit in translation. Mostly the lack of soft, glowing pixels and crisp, smooth motion (if you have no 15kHz CRT).

I have a nostalgia twinge for titles like Barbarian (Psygnosis), Buggy Boy, and Nebulus.

Barbarian II by Psygnosis is a game that I need to finish one day.

A lot of the 'real' Amiga nostalgia I have is while playing co-op games with my friends on it. Games like Chaos Engine, Rod-Land, Bubble Bobble (and the sequels), Dogs of War, or Yo! Joe!.

I have enough RAM on my Amiga 1000, that is my machine of choice right now, but no harddisk of any kind so whdload means nothing in my case.

My options are to stick a Gotek in an internal drive case and use that to write out ADFs to disk which is a faff but what I will have to do.

The other option is CD ISOs of CDTV compatible games, possibly some app to write out ADFs from a bootable CD ISO of a magazine coverdisk with such an app.

amigaXfer is an easy to use GUI tool for lightning fast serial-port floppy and file transfers.

As it uses the Kickstart built-in debugger, no software is needed in the Amiga side. Just loadwb -debug, select the Debug/RomWack/SAD option in Workbench's extra debug menu and enjoy...

Hm. Pretty much any game which plays better with a digital joystick. So most action platformers and beat em ups to begin with. And Cadaver.

They're fine emulated, but there was something about playing a game like Addam's Family, Dynamite Dux or Double Dragon 2 with an arcade stick in the hands that just can't be replicated with a gamepad or a keyboard. That is why I would love to some day meet someone who still has a real Amiga sitting right there with the proper joystick attached to it, just so I can experience playing games "the proper way" again.

If it's not about starting nostalgia conversations, you might have asked in Hardware.Support.

I recommend to mod your A1000 to allow programs to attempt to turn off the filter without ill effects, and to not mod your A1000 internal drive but put a floppy emu in an external diskdrive case and install a floppy boot switch, instead. The recommendation stands whether or not you choose to copy images to real floppy or not.

If you have some fast ram, many floppy images will work on kick 1.3, but quite a few will expect RAM in the memory area for the A500 RAM expansion.

Which RAM expansion do you have?
