Issue with AMOS making directory

Issue with AMOS when making directory. I use makedir logic to make a directory but it keeps adding this little character at the end. This makes transfering files inside workbench problamatic. How do I prevent the null character from appearing at the end of the directory's name?

It might be a carriage return. Remember AMOS is a STOS BASIC spin-off so it might have some AtariST code still dangling around.
