Knightmare (Mindscape) save disk?

I can create a blank disk and then format it in game.
It sees the empty slots and lets me save the game. If I come out of 'save' and go back in, I see my game there.
However when I die and go to reload, it can't find the save game disk anymore! It just says 'Disk not found'.
Have tried it in different drives too, using a single drive, multiple drives etc.
I'm using WinUAE 1.6.1. Have tried different floppy drive speeds and the drive is definitely not write protected.
I'm running under kick 1.3, and am using a basic A500 config.

Would love to play this again, I got sooo far on my actual amiga many years ago, and had much fun, although I did get totally stuck hopefully I will solve it this time.

Why not use the savestate feature if you are on WinUAE? Go to the 'Miscellaneous' panel and use the buttons there.

Create "custom floppy" (extended adf). Game uses non-standard format.

Aha yes, thanksCyberDruid it looks like I can use Savestate to get around the problem.
I could never get it to work in older versions but it seems to work now
I'll also try that Toni, thanks.
