Sound crackles

I never had any sound problems, even though people have reported problems in the past. But, I am experiencing sound crackles and distortion with the latest version of WinUAE. My sound setting is: 100% accurate, no interpolation, and no audio filter. Is anyone experiencing any sound crackles/distortions?

It kind of like, depends, you know...

What game/demo?
Your PC's config?
Emulated config?

Tried the soundbuffer?

WinUAE can eat all your resources in a sec.
Change the priority of WinUAE to "High" in the Task Manager, maybe?

Not much information...

CPU% value? SND% value? 1.4.4 still does work? What was last beta that "worked"?

Sorry. I think the sound issue is not caused by WinUAE. It might be my slow computer, which has things consuming resources (57 processes is also a little high). So that may explain why nobody has reported the sound issue - because there is no sound issue.

The WHDload games I tested earlier were Lotus II and Hudson Hawk. I also tested some mods and mp3s. I used an A4000 config. 68040, AGA Chipset and RTG, etc. The sound buffer was set at 4, but I increased it to 5, which sounds a lot better now.

NEVER DO THAT. AVOID. Do not attempt confusing your system and maybe wreaking some havoc at the same time with some "special" applications!
"Above normal" is the highest safe setting, AFAIK.

You have been warned.

Because it can starve essential processes of CPU time (i.e. Explorer and Winlogon) causing your machine to freeze up completely, this is pretty rare on modern PCs but it does happen.

Yes, in WinUAE. You can do it easier in the Windows Taks Manager.
Honestly I don't remember ever using it with WinUAE, but never experienced any problems with priority changes of other proggies on me Vista x64, tho yes, I do remember how the shitty XP SP2 x86 handles tasks...

Maybe this coolish tool will help, called Processor Lasso in both x86 and x64 versions. It can adjust tasks priority automatically, so when one eats too much CPU power it'll lower it's priority.

No, not exclusively!
"Above normal" is the highest safe setting for ANY application!!
The only software I could see - except for "deep" subsystem software - which is running in "High" is my VoIP phone app.
