Smile My 17th birthday present

Last year when I was clearing out my mums apartment after she died, I found the receipt to me old Miggy 500.
I just didn't have the heart to throw it out.

5049,31 DKK -> 677.68 Euros..
Quite expensive however 100 3,5" DD floppydisks, a 512kb fakefast ram upgrade, an A520 modulator and these two babies;

That joystick was a killer, I used to take it to a friends house and whoop his ass in Track & Field on his C128.
5 games where included;

(Pic courtesy HOL).
Playing Turrican almost day and night. just to discover the disk was faulty.
The last levels simply refused to load.
A big thanks goes to my old neighbor Jacob (he's a member of EAB on Facebook btw, I invited him. ) for making me a copy of his 2 disks.

Best 17th birthday ever... Thanks mum, wherever you may be.

Indeed it is.
Best thing is that I know the A500 still has a nice home.
I sold it to an old class mate, then he sold it to his baby sister (which has been my best friend for almost 30 years now), she loaned it to her mum so she could play Pinball Dreams and Deluxe Pacman.

In the very same 'My Mum bought me an Amiga yay that's cool ', My Mum used the
last pay of its job in November 1992 to buy me my first amiga, an A600.

3500 francs at the time, monitor included and wow what a computer
First games were Double dragon III, Alien Breed and Jim Power.

I still have it today, drive is brand new, and it has 2 mb of RAM.

I was at my nieces 10th birthday today but I was the one that got the best present.

I got my old Amiga 500 back.
Once I get it home I'll post some pics of my first Amiga love.

Great story. Good to see something timeless (and tough) enough to be enjoyed for generations.

Yeah that's nice

I was spoilt back at the age of around 16 when i first got an Amiga having just left school.I had both my Amiga's bought by my Dad.The first one an A500 in about 87 at the age of 16 and the A1200 in 1993.Parents are awesome or at least they certainly can be for us lucky ones

Previous to that i was lucky to have bought for me an Atari2600, C64 and an Atari ST- perhaps not so lucky

Fantastic memories and i make a point of reminding them how cool they are for it

yes that Power Up compilation was very cool but did they have to stick a spotlight on the box to take that photo?
i had that one and the Precious Metal compilation but HOL has no pic of it.

i was very lucky as a kid also i had every thing i wanted and even crap i didnt.
How different life is for me now every things so un-fun and not-easy... ;-)

i found a pic of it i was 14 when i got this compilation

I almost made some tears.... ...
This is so sad... I hope she's looking down at you from a cloud, while smiling
When you combine this with "my best birthday gift ever", it gets very strong and emotional...

Got her home today, she was a mess to be honest.

(click thumbs for bigger pics)

Here she is soaking in hot dishwater.

The mobo was surprisingly clean, nothing a soft brush and vacuum cleaner couldn't handle.

First thing I did was remove the battery from the fakefast upgrade.

This is what the keys looked like.

They're soaking in dishwater as well.

The game boxes after a clean up.

Sorry for the blurry picture.

I'll get the ingredients for some Retr0bright monday.
Then she'll be like new again.

Xanthan gum seems to be impossible to find where I'm at so I'll try with some corn starch instead.
Also 3% Hydrogen Peroxide is the only available.
How much would be ideal to use for something that looks like this?

xantham gum? look in the "free from" section in your local supermarket.... you know, the ones with gluten free, dairy free, taste free etc. food items on it

No dice I'm afraid
Bought some corn starch instead.

Mouse and keys are soaking in a tub of peroxide and oxy right now.
