Why does "add harddrive" still need admin rights?

Win7 or Vista: if I run WinUAE normally (without admin rights) and load a config which already has a physical harddrive in the list, then it works without problems. And if I click on properties in the harddrives list, I can even select another harddrive and the list of harddrives is always current. So why does the "add harddrive" button need admin rights? What is the difference between "add harddrive" and "properties"?

Looks like because you'd be "hijacking" an entire physical HD from your OS to WinUAE.

I have never used Admin rights. So Im alittle lost by that too.

Only problem I have now, with latest release is a I can not add drives anymore at all.

If I go back to an earlier release its fine. HD override deosnt work.

It probably has something to do with the way WinUAE accesses the HD.

@FOL, add hardrives works with ver 2.3.1, but I have to run as Admin for the drives to show up

I have no answer to original question yet but:

- "not working" is not a bug report.
- Not mentioning Windows version and if it is 32 or 64-bit makes it even worse "bug report".

My issue, I already explained over 6 months ago, in a previous post.
Aint had time to go through it all properly.

Will do a proper bug report once I get enough time free.
Cant believe no one else has had the issue I have had.
