I dont think you need schematics, I suspect you have broken a dry joint on the ROM socket. Check and re-solder all connections on the ROM socket - giveaway is that you said if you press it, it will boot. Either faulty socket or bad connection to motherboard.

It probably has a decoupling cap in line..

I missed where you said pressing down makes it work, I agree with ag_woodward, take the motherboard and bottom RF shield apart and resolder the ROM socket.

Drive led always on = drive cable in the wrong way around or on the wrong pins?

A bit difficult to say what's wrong with the machine now. I don't have any schematics for the rev3, so I can't really say what relevance the resistor has either.

I thing is not rev3, its rev5.1 like:

I try floppy cable both ways. Anyway if it was only the cable it should appear the screen with the disk.

AlexH, can you change that in amiga-hardware.com? It really is a rev3 board. The text is on the underside of the board, in the area that's under the floppy drive.

I also dug out my rev3, the Agnus socket isn't turned, the text on the chip is. Pin1 still points downwards and it is marked with silkscreen on the board.

By the way, mine has no resistor under the kickstart ROM.

:-(

I hope you can find a rev6 or newer if you're going to replace it.. I'm out of ideas really, apart from replacing every custom chip one by one.
