unfortunately after looking hi and low I can't find my original I did ask my brother who remembers the game and said he had the same frustration at not being able to finish it.
I wonder if it's something simple like the RTC date being used for the RNG - maybe the game was playtested on an unexpanded A500 without clock and nowadays we all have RTCs (including in WinUAE) and there is an error using the value from the system time. I'm keen to see if this is the case so will see if I can find out if I get the time soon. |

I played it on a A500 without a RTC and in a WinUAE HD setup that does emulate an RTC and both times the cripple never appeared. As I've mentioned before the retail releases do not have sound but the Talespin version does, so something is amiss if even your bro can remember having problems finishing it!!

Ok folks
Here's the result : the original i bought is unmodified, i did an IPF out of it Next, time to test If it uses a protection, it's GAP based. EDIT : well playing from the IPF doesn't change a thing. It's buggy from the start. Last edited by dlfrsilver; 12 January 2018 at 18:15. |

Jewel case? I honestly can't think this was ever protected but it would be useful if someone checked if it actually called any protection routines!!

Thanks for taking the trouble to get another copy though Denis, even if all copies of the game seem to be bugged.

Then there's this release https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Grail...oAAOSwV4BZ2AJh
I seriously doubt there's any difference in these releases and wouldn't suggest anyone to pay that amount of money for this game Btw, what is this "Software Direct" line of titles? There's nothing on HOL about it. |

I wondering where the heck I put my copy now to compare?
Perhaps it should be renamed The Fail? |

Found the ebay listing where I bought my copy and it too is the Software Direct release in a Jewel Case! But, I only paid £4.50 for it so not a huge loss
