D\Generation CD32 save problem

Hi,

I started playing D\Generation on the CD32 recently. Got quite far, saved my game and went to lock the save slot from the CD32 control screen.

Loaded the game the next day and I wasn't able to save anymore as the game told me that the save file is locked. Fine, I thought, I'll go unlock it and so I did. Another try at saving with the unlocked save file produced the same results. Went back to the save management screen again only to notice that the whole slot was gone. There goes my progress I thought and started playing from the beginning. Tried saving again, but no, it still doesn't work.

So, even though there's no save file / slot even in the NVRAM the game claims I have a locked previous save file. Anyone else experienced this and/or how to solve the problem? Seems like there's some remnant of a save game left in the NVRAM and thus the game won't allow me to save.

The savegame system uses lowlevel.library so not likely to be buggy. Maybe your NVRAM is buggy (hardware problem)? I prefer playing those games on a real amiga => you save the game and you can archive the savegame file. Much safer.

The NVRAM hasn't posed any problems before. I wonder if there's a way of cleaning it. Maybe one of those tools on Aminet could shed some light on this issue. But it's still rather strange that a game should not let you lock its own save slot. I thought that was a normal procedure.

There are official commodore nvm utilities. There were the "bookit" tool (bookmark device), and you'd have to look for CD32 specific ones out there.
