Burning Kickstart Roms
It not ever something I'll be doing, but I have seen this mentioned on a few threads. Just curious to know how far people have gone with this? How much can you do with a custom rom?

people have gone all the way with burning roms, burning standard roms, custom roms, extended 1meg roms which have extra commodities (like hrtmon) whatever you can think of. just make a search and you'll get lots of info (here's the main thread for you though )

I have looked through, and get terribly confused by all the technical data. Have people made a bootable WB on their roms? Are there any youtube or suchlike vids of what people have created? Kind of just interested in seeing what people have managed to create

No, the full WB is not ROM-able.

http://www.gregdonner.org/workbench/images/wb_39_ks.jpg People have added OS3.9 ROM updates so you avoid a reboot when loading WB. They have applied fixes so they can boot from IDE partitions >2GB and added hardware drivers & Filesystems such as CDFS & USB so you can boot from devices never before possible. I think you are confusing Kickstart as some sort of SSD / Flash storage. |

maybe, see posts with people talking about adding workbench libraries and different patches, not really sure what it is they are doing.

I don't think workbench.library is the GUI component but I may be wrong. But I'm sure you cannot put the entire AmigaOS into Kickstart and boot instantly if that was what you were thinking.

Custom ROM normally sacks it out to make room for other modules. |
