CD32 with arcade audio tracks - looking for dll
As I don't want to eat jotd's thread, I open this new one regarding the issue I am facing with the "CD32 games + arcade sounds" releases by jotd.
As you may have read (see here), on my system the MP3 music is not playing in-game. I think the issue of non-playing MP3 is due to the Windows 7 "N" version I am using on my PC. Indeed the "N" versions have no built-in Windows Media Player. (yes! ) Therefore it seems that some dll that Windows need to use for reading the music files on request of CD32Load are not present on my system and, of course, Windows does not ask VLC for help . The funny thing is that nor Toni nor myself know which dll is required to decode MP3 as WinUAE communicate with the OS by telling him it wants to decode MP3 and Windows does the rest... (like Amiga datatypes, the calling application doesn't know who is doing the work at the end) After a search on the net I think (not sure - but saw this name) the dll is named "mp3dmod.dll" and should be located in "%WINDIR%\System32" Thus I kindly ask your help : 1) do someone knows about a light/small mp3 decoder codec. I am not looking for a huge codecs pack, nor the Windows media player setup to turn the "N" version into a non "N" version. Only a light/small mp3 decoder codec. or 2) if you are using Windows 7 (home, pro, ultimate, etc.) could you please send me all the "mp3*.dll" that you have on your system32 folder. I am especially looking for the French and English one. But if you have an Italian, Spanish, Japanese, etc. version feel free to send me the files also as maybe they are in English and may work on my French system . Then I will have to figure out how to register it, but one strep after another. or 3) if you know a tip to help Windows to communicate better with VLC, I take it. In fact, I don't know if VLC can act like a "server" for another application. Thanks in advance for your help |

OK. Funny thing !
I searched for hours this morning without success and now on first shoot, I got the needed codec in minutes. So for everybody having a Windows "N" version and needing a light/small mp3 decoder codec to play jotd CD32 + sound, follow this link. Only 227Ko install and it's working great ! |

I attach version 32Bit and 64Bit (I have not checked if they are different)
I do not know if you're going to be alone with the bookstore, you probably need a few entries in the register Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 31 January 2019 at 12:20. |

Yes, i suspected it from the file size (equal)
if you still have problems install LAME: https://www.freewarefiles.com/LAME-M...ram_23819.html |

No ! I remembered that LAME was a Encoder/Decoder, now that i remember better, the LAME Codec is named lameACM.acm (the two library can live together)
I usually on the PC (hundreds) i always installed the package K-Lite Codec, the best codec package, the program also corrects codec errors in the system Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 29 January 2019 at 00:26. |

As expected, it is not working that simple way . Registering is OK, but no mp3 playback. So, for now, the small 227Ko codec from post #2 (l3codecx.exe) is the quickest working solution. Thank you @amigasystem & @damiend for having a look in your files |

As already mentioned "Mp3dmod.dll" alone does not solve, you need to have the keys in the registry.
