GBAII++ low performance
Hello friends, i am new owner of RTG card GBAII++ (Cirrus Logic ZorroII). But on my A4000, every software or games are slow like on AGA. Shapeshifter, ADoom (9fps on AGA, same 9fps with rtg p96 mode). So i dont know, where is
problem? Or the ZorroII card is slow like AGA chipset?... Thank you |

Zorro-II has pretty limited bandwidth - less than AGA. The main advantage of RTG is the lack of a chunky-to-planar conversion, but any benefits you get from not needing to do that conversion are most likely negated by the bottleneck of the Zorro-II bus. Games like Doom, where the entire screen has to be drawn every frame, are very bandwidth-intensive - you'll notice a much more significant improvement in performance on a Workbench screen or an application screen, for example, where most of the screen is static and 2D operations like line drawing and filling can be done by the graphics card.

You have Amiga 4000 you should get gfx card which supports Zorro III.
Zorro II bandwidth is 3.8mb/s, when AGA has 4.5mb/s. Benefit to havin gfx card with Zorro II is to get decent resolutions and colors. |
