Tempest, best arcade vector game ever?!
Today I finally got to relive one of my favourite arcade games today via MAME and a propper spinner controller, I'm still not that good at it but what a joy it was to play what I consider one of the best vector games ever to come out of the golden era of arcade gaming, so much so I decided to record a little "let's play" video of it showing off those lovely colours by setting the bloom level up and showing all the different coloured levels.
I hope you enjoy my little video if interested: [ Show youtube player ] Here is the entire game all bloomed up for those extra glowy lines,...with the help of a bit of an immunity cheat [ Show youtube player ] |

*sigh* I owned a Tempest arcade cabinet in my teens. I bought it from a guy on my paper route for $50. Fixed it up and, oh, man, it was so awesome. When we moved my game would have put us over our weight allowance so I had to sell it. It still haunts me.

Asteroids I can understand that because it was maybe the first one I played, Warzone was iterating too because of it’s interface.

Tempest on the Jaguar with a rotary converted controller is pretty good. Prefer it to the Saturn version. Leeds Arcade Club have the cabinet

I'm going to go with Tempest, because I'm a sucker for colorful games It might be simple lines but they still managed to give a really good sense of depth.

I didn't play extensively many vector games, mostly Berzerk on the Vectrex. Black Widow seems nice though. Tempest, I wanted to like this one (or its equivalent Tempest X3 on the PS1) but soon noticed it was very hard and lacked depth. If you're like me, a Berzerk fan, check Berzerk II on MAME (Frenzy).
