Install snoopdos and have it run in the background.
Start monitoring just before you start multiview for seeing the brush. It might e.g. be a Datatype missing. |

i'm asking this because i'm not very familiar using snoopdos... Quote:
this particular system shown in screenshot IS os3.9 with all official and inofficial boingbags installed! so updating a system to what it already is, is not a working solution. there must be something else. sorry, i don't understand this question. Last edited by honx; 21 January 2018 at 12:38. |

First try SnoopDOS with standard settings.
Just look for 'fails'. In case you don't see any try more options. |

instead a run requester pops up. if i enter "multiview file.brush" then .brush gets displayed. just installed toolmanager and now trying to mess with it. unfortunately this guide is a bit incomplete. for example it doesn't tell where to copy these brush files (step 3). that's where i'm stuck right now... even in this screenshot .brush files are shown like they should be. and this is definitely NOT os 3.9! but not for me obviously... another image attached, this time from os3.1 running on amiga 500 plus. honx you tell me what operating system you use to see the brush icons?
with 3.1 you can not see by default, with OS3.9 Standard you can see perfectly Use Snoopdos 1.7 that's easier and more intuitive! Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 22 January 2018 at 23:55. |

Probably yours OS3.9 it has not been installed correctly, try to have a nice clean installation:
Ok: WB3.0 -> OS3.5 -> Os3.9 (this is the correct procedure) No: WB 3.1 -> OS 3.9 better not to use it because it creates problems on some icons view |

no update from os3.0/os3.1 took place, it was a clean os3.9 setup on fresh formatted hardfile.
i think that you agree, installing os3.9 from scratch is most correct and clean procedure by far. and why should i reinstall a complete workbench just for brushes not being displayed as icons? such action would be way too overdone in my opinion. there must be a more suitable solution. in addition not just os3.9 is not displaying brushes. also os3.1 and this install is new and clean. only magicwb and mui were added since installation of os3.1 on amiga 500 plus cf card. 3.1 it is normal that he can not see icons
3.9 must see icon In your OS 3.9 something has been changed and you will probably encounter other small incomparabilities. Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 21 January 2018 at 21:17. |

on os3.9 i see only one single standard icon for .brush file but no individual icons as brushes should be. as seen in my screenshot.
as seen on that screenshot i posted yesterday and relinked earlier today. furthermore i'm not aware of any other incompatibilities. toolmanager: tried to follow tutorial as far i could. copied brushes/dock folders into prefs folder (tutorial didn't tell where they belong). created group and objects in both exec and image tab. afterwards i combined them in dock tab and set position like shown in tutorial. but no dock appears at all. is there any more clear and easy tutorial for setting up toolmanager out there? Made an OS 3.9 installation directly from CD and brush icons, this confirms that your OS 3.9 has some problems I'll try to find it!
Why do not you use AmiStart or AmiDock [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 22 January 2018 at 23:55. |

There are also the old StartMenu and Workbench 2000, you can see them on my old A4000 in this video of mine.

extracted all three toolmanagerbin, toolmanagerext and toolmanagerloc. afterwards i choose german (deutsch) installer script.
during installation of toolmanager german (deutsch) was the only language selected. no other languages have been selected. startmenu/wb2000: i prefer dock instead of windows like bars. these belong to windows. workbench should stay different. Last edited by honx; 21 January 2018 at 22:02. |

toolmanager is picky about brushes. my first tries only had two entries: dopus, cli.
those two never were displayed if images activated. and they still are not displayed. now two more entries added to dock: redit and say. these new icons are displayed. if images enabled, redit, say are visible but dopus, cli remain missing/not displayed. if images deactivated (only text activated) all four entries are displayed and working. all images i used come from the same drawer: brushes from dockbrushes.lha archive. |
