Anybody else just getting a black screen after the WHDLoad splash screen appears? F10 doesn't work and I have to reset my Amiga.

Nope, works perfectly fine on my Amiga 1200/ACA 1233n with the latest WHDLoad version.

I have tried in my a1260 and works really well. Oh..I have had to put "nocache" in whdload tooltype but runs ok.

Just tried adding the nocache tooltype but made no difference. I'm running it on an A1200, WB 3.1.4 and a Blizzard Mk4 030. Latest WHDLoad too.

Is NoCache case sensitive in whdload?

Just checked the help when running WHDLoad from the shell and yes it does look like it should be 'NoCache'. Sadly even after I corrected it and ran it again it still gave me a black screen.

Incidentally when I have to reset the Amiga to get past the black screen I then get a red screen. I have to physically turn it off and back on to get it working again. Has never done that for any other game/software.

Hmm.. dunno then. There's something it just doesn't like in tier your accelerator card or your workbench. I suspect you'll have much more success disabling the card and booting from floppy.

This is indeed strange. The Blizzard 1230 MK IV is one of the most compatible and stable accelerators out there. Some newer libs or tools, maybe something related to WB 3.1.4?

It just doesn't like something about my A1200. I have now written the ADF to a floppy disk and tried booting that and basically get the same result. It starts to load and then just gives up after a short while. It never displays anything on the screen at any point - just a black screen throughout.

Oh no, that's annoying. Process of elimination would be to physically remove the accelerator but I'm not saying you should do that cuz I know what a pain in the ass that can be, especially putting it back in.

Needed to tweak the Aca500+ settings a little bit, but it soon ran just fine from physical disk. Nice game, never played it before, and very cool soundtrack, congrats!

how can i install whd version without having to install anything for mounting .adf?
is there any "finished" whd slave available, ready to use?

//edit:
nevermind. i used adfer to make a real floppy and und used that floppy to install.

great work! and cool intro when booting from floppy!

only one problem:
on real amiga i can't get past that intro. left mouse button doesn't work.
so the game booting from real floppy doesn't work. but that's no problem.
whd slave is working i installed on my aca500plus...

i'm already looking forward to metal gear 2!

//edit:
what is the button for yes to continue from last checkpoint!

The ACA500 has been probably the most problematic of all the accelerators during testing and since release but thankfully as you've found a tweak to settings can get things up and running just fine.

Fire, 2nd fire, any of the directional buttons or FKeys 1-5. Basically just hit a control.

may i ask what exactly the problem with aca500 was?
i have an aca500plus with an aca1221 attached to it on my amiga 500 plus and whdload version just works.
in my case only real floppy version not able to leave intro and start the game itself (floppy led constantly on).

I posted this good news too the MSX community and they of course tried it online. Word is: the cheat codes are not implemented, like F1 [ = pause ] D S SPACE 4 F1 (increases rank) which makes it possible to wear more equipment, bullets etc.

Your choice to implement an on screen menu probably had something to do with that. How about F1 is the Konami pause, F10 is your break? The original game has a save to tape, I believe F4, you replace that by save to floppy.

Oh implemented the cheat codes but I was forward thinking to people who might be playing on a cd22 without keyboard so you can get to them in a slightly different but very familiar way.
