Amiga VS PC question
Ok, this is the situation:
You've being captured, blindfolded, and dragged into the deserted island where you are suppose to choose between: - Amiga 500, 1MB Ram, HD, and all games and apps available for the platform. - 386 DX/40Mhz, 4MB Ram, HD, Sound Blaster 16, Joystick, and all games and apps available for the platform. What would you choose? And why? |

Though this is a silly thread that has all the potential for becoming a nasty, nasty place... I did vote, for the A500.
Reason: it's what I had back then, it's what I loved back then (and indeed still do today even though I use my A1200 more often). Frankly, in the "real world" that's far more important to me than which system may or may not be "better" or have "better games" |

Indeed, it wasn't meant to be very serious thread. But then again, I often hear comparison A500 VS 286, then I thought of this scenario, and my thoughts that I would choose A500 way before 386. Of course, not blaming anyone who choose differently (or even 286). Btw, it's not always the case that everyone loves it's own computer. I had C64, when I "met" A500 and 386 (at my friend house), and I am all for A500, and love it, all the way, much before then I (few years later) purchased A1200. |

It's harsh going from owning 500 or so games to owning err, 5 |

Voted for the A500 even if I know it would be useless in a deserted island as I wouldn't know where to plug it

Had to choose the A500, my first miggy. Though like roondar it wasn't until I upgraded it, that it became my 'dream computer'. Rev. 5 mobo 2mb chip, 32mb fast, '030 and '882 @ 50 MHz, 1gb HDD, Zip drive, DCTV....dang, I miss that machine... ??

Another PC v Amiga thread just what we wanted! This will end peacefully i’m sure.
Edit: to not just state the obvious word of warning! My choice is undoubtably the A500, no DOS IBM PC would slither through my fingers had i ever the choice. |

I voted A500.
Do, pray tell, what games of any worth were available on a 386? |

i would chose 386 because more powerful than A500 and more games. Many years ago i was fascinating by Amiga graphics and sound, but in the games these entries are not always the first thing to watch.

Tricky. Neither hold any significant interest for me over the other - both are too slow and clunky to be fun to use in a serious way, and while the games will be more appealing on the Amiga, if we're talking period values, the 386 would be worth more and thus will get me more when I sell it on.

Why is this even a poll on an Amiga Forum?
