Lords of the Rising Sun

Could someone please help me to find the Atari ST version of Lords of the Rising Sun. I really like the look of this game but I keep getting killed by the ninja right at the start of the game. You might think well why do I want the Atari version.

Well I've found that most of the time The Amiga version of a game is better than the Atari ST not due to the Amiga's superior hardware but that the ST version was often released first and the Amiga version was changed to correct any gameplay problems with the ST version.

But with Cinemaware it was reversed, the Amiga version came out first with the ST version appearing later or never. For instance Sinbad was imho better on the ST than the Amiga even if the graphics were less impressive.

that's because you use the cracked version! I had the same problem until I used the original disks, then there was no ninja and you could play it in its full glory!

Sounds like they learnt some lessons from the copy protection techniques of C64 Karateka-a lesson not to use pirate copies if ever there was one!

That's more than cheeky that's just taking the p*** I didn't even know that they could do that. All I have to do now is find the uncracked original.

I remember some of the AtariST games were better than the Amiga ones. I always thought Xenon 2, Dungeon Master, Chaos Strikes Back were better on the AtariST. Whilst the Turrican Series, Z-Out & Shadow of the Beast were better on the Amiga.

I always remember playing Kick Off on the AtariST...I felt so jealous that the Amiga version had the goal nets.

Such fond memories...

PS: Happy gaming to you all!!

Well, I can't see how Xenon 2 could have been better on the ST but games like Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back were just ports to the Amiga (like so many games pre-90's). So I guess it is certainly possible something was "lost" from these games in the translation. Dungeon Master was still amazing on the Amiga, but I have never played the ST version.

I liked the music better on the ST version of Xenon 2. I thought the sound was very well done on the ST version. As for Dungeon Master, it ran on a 512K machine on the AtariST, unlike the Amiga version. The Amiga version needed 1MB for the added sound effects. I prefer the AtariST version because I believe it was harder. Yes, I played them both. Oids was also a great game for the AtariST which unfortunately never came to the Amiga.

I believe the disk images on CInemware are in fact the cracked version!
But the lockpicked 100% deprotected version re-cracked in 2010 (or 2009?) by a boardmember was posted here a while ago, no nasty ninja there!

Yeah i know, thx, i registered 2 Years ago there and was very disappointed. They uploaded the quartex version to the site.

Its a damn losstech, if even the developer havent the image. Reel 2 used to screw up cause of the r/w for the savegame.
I dont really belive data on disk can survive 20 years.

There was a blackstar version for PC, but it was never released as far as i know.
With this game its like who can climb the mount everest 1st. Best copy protection for its time and still a nasty one to crews today.
There are bout 7 versions out there, every team failed to get it done.

There are roumors around, that 1 man got it done. I belive no one else could get it done again.

Yes its working. Ah what a feeling after 20 years of waiting. Thank you very much.

I just started, and after some crashes i got the right configuration. A600 with rom 3.1.
Yoritomo suck... quite well at start. You are forced to play all action sequenses with him. Sure ninja have hit a couple of times to kill yoritomo. So if u guys want, ill post some screens here, with special acivements. And it will sure take a while to get master rank.

Shogun 2 with its new patch have to wait.

Like I wrote in PM, you probably want to run it w/ KS1.2 and 512KB slow/512KB fast for compatibility issue as the game was released in that time frame.
