SD HxC Floppy as DF1, DF2 etc

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can please guide me here. I have the older SD HxC Floppy Emulator (with up to date v1.8.7.1 firmware). I am wanting to use it as the source to copy some .hfe files back to the A500's internal floppy.

The way I've attempted to do it is by using an external floppy case and just swapping the Chinon floppy with the HxC, but it seems to be clashing with the DF0 internal floppy still or is just not seen by the Amiga (as I fiddle with cables and jumpers).
I've tried normal cables, cables with cross overs, messing with the HxC jumpers, swearing, nothing is working.

I don't really care what drive it appears as, I'm using X-Copy so anything between DF1 and DF3 should be ok.

Is what I am trying to achieve possible with the HxC floppy?

Hey,

I have an SD HxC as well which I sometimes use as DF1 & 2 externally, but with a custom cable. I see no reason why it wouldn't work with an external drive's board.

Are you sure that:

• You have the HxC jumpers set so it responds to SEL0?
• You are using the cable before the twist?
• The cable is inserted the right way around? (I wouldn't just trust the notches and red stripe alone here)
• You're HxC's config is correct?
• The drive's board and the HxC are in working order.

I did find a jumper setting that seemed to not clash and the Ext drive was still seen as DF1 (I had the HxC as Drive A - ID0), but the thing that worked was in X-Copy I didn't try to do DF1 > DF0 direct disk to disk copying.
If I set the 'Device' as RAM instead of Disk then it seemed to work just fine, and this A500 has 1Mb so it doesn't really add much time to do it that way.
