Action Replay III version

Are there other ways to tell if an Action Replay III is version 3.09 or 3.17 than plugging it into an Amiga and executing the version command?

Desolder the prom chips, read them in, merge them, look at the hex dump? ;-)

Right, so that's a "no" Speaking of, have anyone made proper dumps like that? IIRC there was something about an unimportant first longword that can't be read by the cart itself or something.

Yeah, I made some dumps for Toni years back. The "undumpable" first bytes were either all zeroes or all Fs, in any case, you aren't missing anything. :-)

Is it possible to dump a cartridge directly on the Amiga?

Yes, to dump AR 3 you have to enter "sysop mode" (type "may the force be with you new", after each word you need to press enter and ignore any error messages), then the AR3 code can be saved, 256k starting from memory location $400000.

"Hidden" bytes are "50 00 00 00" (AR3 v3.09)

Thanks for verifying. I probably have the dumps stashed somewhere too, but couldn't figure out where. :-)
