One, people bought into the marketing hype that Mac was the ‘creative’ computer. There is also a lot of ego and snobbery associated with those purchases.

Two, people incorrectly assumed they were getting a technically superior machine that was easier to use and less prone to failure.

Having used Macs and PCs for three decades in the creative industry, they are nice machines, but there is no inherent reason they are used in the creative world because they are better at creative tasks.

Having said all that, the M1’s are very exciting and is helping to shift the industry.

It takes an Intel I9 28 minutes (!) to do what a mac can do in 3minutes.

That's some serious lost time/money.

Let's be sensible - those Mac benchmarks are only a week old. When G4/G5 was a thing, certain benchmarks "proved" that Intel was all but dead too. There are uses for all kinds of machines - I have a M1 Mac for some kinds of work and a Ryzen 9 rig for others.
