A500 2mb Addon help

Hi all

Amram 1.5Mb Addon then I put the card in the trap door
then turn on A500 it show a GREEN srceen the card has a
on / off switch when it is on GREEN srceen then it is off it
will show the internal memory of the A500 I think that the
card is incompatibe has anyone else had this issue

Is it me or is the A500 512Kb card and gary card give me 2Mb Ram
Do I cut the cable of the Amram

( Is the gary card have 1Mb on the card? )

( PS Blue is my new Kickstart Rom Expansion Board this work fine )

Your install photo is confusing (and very wrong). You can't use that 512K trapdoor card with the gary adapter. Use all the AMRAM stuff, or none of it.

Some facts that might also help:
- Kickstart 1.2 doesn't support 1.5MB slow RAM and will not boot. 1.3 is OK.
- The AMRAM doesn't support 1MB chip RAM. So if your system has 1MB chip, you need to undo that mod or dump the AMRAM.
- The GARY board has NO memory on it.

It is STD Amiga A500 512k ONLY NO mods
If I only have the Amram 1.5Mb card install it will NOT boot up only to a Green Screen
make No difference if I boot in 1.3 or 2.04 rom
else had this issue with this card.

So I put a another card in the expansion A501 512k but left in the gary card and show



WB 1.2 show 1953408 free ram



WB 2.04 show 444248 graphics 1471128 other ram

so is it give me 2Mb Ram?

when I removed the gary chip addon back to normal only show 512k

Any expansion needing to conenct stuff to Gary will need a cable soldered to a jumper (JP2-2) on the motherboard near the 68000. If you don't have this cable it will not work. If you don't have this cable teh Gary piggyback will not be used (this is why other cards work).

Hmm, that modification might be to have 1MB of Chip RAM, I think without the cable, you should be able to have 512KB Chip and 1.5MB Fast.

I think the JP2-2 wire Akira speaks of is only needed for 1MB chip, otherwise no need.

The Gary board is working and doing its job. I guess your AMRAM 1.5MB board has a fault. Any battery acid damage? There could be a cut trace or 2, might be easy to repair.

I have remove the battery for the card do you think it need battery to work ?







was told when I purchase the item it was fully testedand yes there is battery linked

When you use the gary adapter together with the 512kB expansion, you are fooling the system to think you have 2MB, but in reality you don't, so don't use that combination.
