060 config won't let boot os 3.1 install disk

i'm trying to set up a new 060-os3.1 configuration for some games which don't run in my main os3.9 config.
but i can't boot from install disk, it goes straight into software failur (error 8000 000B, task 4001EA10).
no jit or anything activated. if i try 040, no software failure but after boot only "workbench screen" visible.
no actual workbench itself, no window, no icons, nothing. this is a clean new config i try to setup.
3.1 rom, aga, not yet formatted 500mb hdf dynamic size.

It is correct behavior. 68060 CPU with 68040.library = crash when 68040.library gets loaded.

another question about creating .hdf: if i create 512mb hdf with "dynamic" ticked, it still consumes 512mb right from the start.
aren't dynamic .hdfs supposed to be as small as harddisk space is actually used within (clean os3.1 install should take ~2mb)?

Sounds like you use A4000T ROM which does not have workbench.library.

Dynamic hdf: you sure you didn't full format it? It of course makes it full size.

when at home again i'll have a look which 3.1 rom i used. not sure about atm.
about hdf, full format could be the problem, indeed. didn't think about that!

This is what I used to solve the problem, Honx: http://phase5.a1k.org/index.php?driverslibraries

Years ago I made copies of my Workbench 3.1 disks then modified the Workbench Startup-Sequence to copy zer040 and zer060 libs into RAM: and used:

Assign Libs: RAM: Add

I had the library files copied from Extras, I think which I copied them to. Solves it for A4000 and T. As well if I swap CSPPC and zer040.
This also works well for WinUAE. Now install.. I've also PowerPacked most files to create more room and added some extra files including a newer HDToolBox.

Which games are you noticing don't play correctly with OS 3.9? Perhaps send a Private Message. There are tricks and stuff if you're not using WHDLoad.

thx, toni. i was using a4000t rom. replaced it by a4000 3.1 rom, now workbench problem is gone.
you were also right regarding full format. made new .hdf, this time i made sure doing quickformat.
after installing os3.1 i encounterd a little issue, this time again and already as tried the first time:
reboot or reset doesn't seem to work right. had to quit winuae and start again to start emulation.
don't know if this issue is older or coming with version 3.5.0, as i got aware of it on latest version.

on http://phase5.a1k.org/index.php?driverslibraries i can't find any download links.
but i assume, i need to copy 68040.library and 68060.library to os3.1 install disk in libs folder?

most recent examples of games not working in my main config are:
turbo racer 3d and ultimate xtreme racing, both released by damiend.
in the past there were others too which i already have forgotten...

You just click on the LHA or ZIP under "File" - The first one is usually all you need, the one that says "Systemlibraries for 68040/68060 Systems. This is what you need...".

Yes, you copy the files in that folder. It will overwrite them, but it keeps the old 68040.library as a backup.

What browser are you using? I think you'll need Firefox or Chrome or something like that for the site to work.

I considered that, but I have no use for a Memory Management Unit. I've had no trouble without one so far.

It does not matter. Just ignore the "MMU" part

Sounds like you use NoScript or add-on like that for blocking scripts.

It's not just the MMU part, it's the fact that the libs I use add only four files to my ClassicWB install, not the dozens that the other one does, and which seems to require a full install, and I don't know what most of the files do.

As I said, the libs I linked to work fine for me.

it doesn't matter if i deactivate noscript, still no download buttons there.

Here are direct download links to the LHA and ZIP versions of the libraries, see if these work:

LHA http://phase5.a1k.org/download.php?f...a7&countonly=1
ZIP http://phase5.a1k.org/download.php?f...69&countonly=1
