Need Info on SupraDrive SCSI for A500

I have an old SupraDrive A500 scsi interface (not the XP model with RAM option). Anyone have a manual laying around for this or using one? These were a two piece setup when the came out in 1987. The hard drive actually sat in an external enclosure and was connected to the back of the interface.

I'm wondering if the internal header labeled P1 is a standard 50 pin SCSI connector. It has pins labeled 1 to 50, but there are entra pins on each side and the circuit paths dont look right (they dont connect to the scsi controller chip where the external port does). Also, the external port is a weird 38pin D-sub female connector. So a wiring diagram for this port would be great.

I've found very little information about this item on the internet.

Supradrive mini manual in the zone (appendum)

Supradrive bootdisk and tools disk (both with docs on them I think) are also in the zone

Thanks Smiley, those Disk might come in useful. The documentation is for the A2000 version of the card. I need info on the A500 version.

Thanks Overdoc. I have a few questions that maybe you can help me with.

1) Does this controller autoboot? There isn't a single jumper on the circuit board and there doesn't appear to be a ROM present either. Just the AMD AM5380PC scsi chip, some pals, and some 74LS374N chips.

2) There is a long connector with pins on the circuit board labaled P1. I initially thought this was an internal 50 pin scsi connector, but there are a few extra pins. From what I've been able to find, this was for an internal memory board? Just want to see if that info is right.

3) As far as the 37 pin external SCSI connector.. The pinouts would be great if they are printed. AT that point I could make the cable by hand and use a standard external enclosure. For example. A standard 25pin external connector pinout looks like this. I'm guessing the entra 12 pins on the SupraDrive are either not used or used for grounds.

Hi !

Ok, I checked the manual but unfortunately it doesn't tell ANYTHING about the hardware

About your questions:

1) It cannot autoboot. But it is described how to make a small bootdisk. I remember I made a bootdisk myself which just bootet the driver and switched to the HD and loaded Workbench from HD.

2) This seems to be a RAM connector. The manual only tells that such RAM expansions exist and instructions how to attach it are given with the RAM expansion....

3) Unfortunately no info about this connector. If you ever find please tell, as I would like to know myself !

Thanks for the Info!

I found someone who has the external section and he is willing to part with it. He wants me to make him an offer, but I'm not sure how much I should go. Whats a non autoboot A500 SCSI controller worth? Thats the question.
