Welcome to EAB Always good to have an old coder / cracker around Thanks for your input, it seems to be the going theme; all SPS versions from originals also feature the Taito / Graftgold screen so we do have to wonder about versions that have the Rainbow Project screen... Anyway; Flashtro did a very nice trainer for the Rainbow Project version. Would be very cool if the same could be applied to one of the Quartex cracks (Taito / Graftgold version) |

i have an idea about this screen story.......
It can be a crack of the US release of the game. None of the euro version of Rainbow Islands Amiga has the manual protection. |

BTW, thanks to both Dastardly's disk and the Scoopex crack, I was able to recreate the former somewhat in the form of a 'cracked' ADF with the trackdisk protection dealt with - this might do for now if a properly-working RAW image isn't possible anymore. |

Rainbow Project was made when it was supposed to be released under the Firebird label which was a part of a group of labels owned by British Telecom, the others being Rainbird and Silverbird.
BT sold up to Microprose, but as far as im aware, Graftgold who developed Rainbow Islands actually held the conversion rights to all home computer ports. When Microprose bought out Telecomsoft, they immediately sold off one of the labels, and Graftgold basically sought out another publisher as the game had been completed for quite some time. The Rainbow Project version was a leaked review copy, it had the typical Graftgold MFM system, and the password screen which only had one word it checked for, 'facilities'. Obviously when the deal was struck with Ocean, they had Graftgold do the titlescreen to reflect the update. |

so it was really a beta version of the game, and not a final release

I still have the disk, but I seem to remember it was unrecoverable due to age.
