Though funnily enough it does include a copylock elsewhere on the disk (the MFM original never had one) which is never accessed. Wonder what that was all about?

there is no copylock on the disk. I had the game many years ago, and it never had any protection whatsoever.

Pierre Adane has given a deprotected version for mastering on the hit squad version.

By tradition, Pierre always protected his own games, On Pang there was no copylock, on Toki no copylock, on Snow Bros no copylock.

So sorry, but no RNC cigar this time

Run the ADF Boo-Boo uploaded into any hex editor of your choice and search for either "ONz" or $48 7A 00 0A. Boom.

it's a shame the hit squad version with the same crc already on the server file was not named something which suggests it's the hit squad release. it's good news that it was on the server all along but with a filename like toki.rar it could be any version.

It's a false positive. Pierre adane never used the RNC protection scheme near or far, and he did himself his mastering.

He was just giving the disk ready to duplicate.

EDIT : ONz found early on the disk. My hex editor give this : " 4F 4E 7A".

It's clearly a false positive, as explained, Pierre told me years ago on the phone that he was doing himself the mastering of each ocean games he worked on. So no cigar, no copylock

Not that ONz. The second ONz is much further down, at offset $C4E81. That or you could've just searched for $48 7A 00 0A to get down to that part instantly.

So no cigar, no copylock
I'd like to stress that I in no way claimed that the game uses copylock, just that traces of one physically exist elsewhere on the disk.

Another theory could be that the disk originally contained another game which used copylock and that particular section I'm pointing to is what remains of the other game following a mass overwriting.
