Your AGA pal version doesn't look that ugly to me!

my amiga 2000 rtg is broken but I made a 3.1 workbench that I would put on it when it came back to life

It's not ugly in the sense of complete bullshit I meant for example the icon positions.. the .info files on the desktop are fixed to fit the rtg workbench and i simply clean them up by type when loading the pal workbench to fit them inside the screen. this is not the most elegant way but i does the job
It's kind of a bit "quick and dirty" |

Here are a couple sort of plain ones. No hard drive at present for the 1.3 on the left.
Sorry, I only have A500's, but just got ACA500+ for the 3.1 system. It has a few improvements to the Workbench. 16 colors only. |

I remember my WB 1.3 for my Amiga 1000 was the original blue/orange/white/black palette and standard pointers but I had the dropshadow utility loaded in the startup.
I loved the original WB look, KS 1.4 has less cooky looking arrows for window resizing, but that was A3000 only and IIRC loaded in from hard disk not on the ROM? My dream setup would probably be a custom copperlist for 10 colours per scanline or two and a PCHG background image but I would have to write the copperlist myself. |

My WB has a subtle blue copper backdrop with basic icons and that is it. Need to preserve as much chip mem as possible ha!

Mine is the Classic WB backdrop which is a color gradient. Looks pretty decent even in low color modes (for speed)
