A1200 little trapdoor on the back
For some reason my A1200 didn't come with the little trapdoor on the back that most every other A1200 has. I guess the previous owner lost it, or forgot to give it to me (and I never paid attention)
Now I need to put my VGA output for the scandoubler and I would need this to dremel it and put the lead there (My DCE came with a connector for a tower case. Woops!) What other options are there to do this? Certainly I dont have a dremel and my skills for this sort of thing SUCK! Opinions welcome |

You could do what I did. Get a vga pci backplane, bend to size and shape. Hot glue it in place. Attach the sd/ff video port to it.

You can try to contact Amigakit and see if they have a spare, most often they do.
You really dont need a dremel to open a hole into plastic, you can draw the guidelines with a permanent pen and use your soldering iron to cut thru it, just make sure the tip is very thin. After opening the hole you can use a small wood sander for the finishing touch. Last edited by Yoto; 13 June 2008 at 23:33. |

That's exacty what I did. I was lucky enough to find a backplane that already had a vga-sized hole cut in it. Probably for a serial port or something.

I might go the backplane way. Any pics?
I really don't feel like dealing with Amigakit to get something I will destroy. |

You can buy DB15 blanking plates in lots of places, or if you have some old gfx cards you just take the nuts out from either side of the VGA connector and the plate comes loose.
http://www.mycableshop.com/Itemdesc....LATE15&eq=&Tp= Some metal cutters (or a lot of bending) to cut it to size of the trapdoor, and some epoxy glue to keep it in place. Might even be worth buying an old gfx card off ebay for one? Last edited by alexh; 14 June 2008 at 13:31. |
