New replacement A1000 keyboard PCB (Cherry MX and Mitsumi)

Here is my latest design for the A1000.

It is a replacement keyboard for the A1000. It will fit in the original A1000 keyboard case, It can use cherryMX and Mitsumi plungers (using my new custom mitsumi plungers). It is also USB capable, plug into your PC etc. Both plate and PCB board are done. If people are interested then i will get some made or it will just sit on the shelf

Shut up and take my money! (Too soon?)
(My A1000 is willing to give up the B2000 Cherry keyboard to get one to park in its garage.)

What about the prices? How can be an original keyboard fixed / exchanged?
What keymap(s) is/are planned?

Thanks!

@kipper2k,

Could you make some A2k keyboards next time out? Please.

Maybe this time sign up with a competent company actually able to make and ship the keyboards, unlike AOTL. Total clown show watching the previous keyboard orders and horrible communication they provided. Sorry just being brutally honest.

Fair enough Kipper2k…
When is that one happening? I have 3 cases with working keyboards but at least one would like to retire…

You are giving me reason to abandon my project. My EKS1000 project is currently halted due to supply chain issues. If your keyboard will support both USB and the Amiga connector, you've met some of the goals of my project. I'll just count my project as a fun learning experience.

Hi, Time is my enemy. I have lots of things to do, ATM i am doing work on new custom chips, Agnus etc. so other projects are stalled a bit. layout is done for the a1k board. as you can see and i am using a modified schematic for the circuit board.

I can release all the info for it once i clean it up a bit. What i don't want to see is people taking the design and rinsing people. There would be a fair bit of manual work to produce these boards. I have no intention of building these myself. If someone designs an a1000 Keyboard case based on the original then JLC will print and charge a fair price to get it printed on their commercial Resin printers.

I was able to convert the cherry MX switch plunger to Mitsumi type so people could use original Amiga keycaps if they dont want the hassle of finding the proper cherry MX sizes. The cherry MX switches come apart so you simply swap the plunger, there will be a slight increase of height of the keycaps but nothing major
(Schematic not quite finished

Time is indeed a precious commodity. Your work on replacement custom chips definitely takes a higher priority than keyboards.

The biggest problem for my A1000 keyboard, and I strongly suspect I'm not alone, is missing keycaps. We'll ignore the fact it's flithy for now

The keyboard works fine but I've always been missing a couple of keycaps from the top left corner and have never been able to source them.

This (professional printing) I'd love to try...
I have a basis that would require a large bit of work to be completed but I'm prepared to work on it to make it happen if you also release the manufacturing data of the PCB and BOM...

Hi peeps. I've been working on a 3D model for the 1000 keyboard for a while now and it's got to a pretty advanced stage. I recently had the case printed by JLPCB and this thread prompted me to see if the innards of a real 1000 keyboard would fit. It took a little pushing but it does fit pretty nicely. There are a few issues I will fix (can you spot the obvious one in the photo). I should be able to fix the main issues with the case soon, I just need to test the stands for fit, I've just started modelling the keycaps... these might take a bit longer.

Happy to share what I've done.
