A520 tv modulator on A1000???
Hi ppl
possibly a dumb question, but since i have neither the A1000 or the A520 TV modulator on me at the moment, thought i would just throw it out there. Will a A520 TV modulator work on an A1000, is the monitor connection different on A500s & A1000s? The Big Book of Amiga Hardware shows a separate modulator for the A1000, but this could be an earlier model of the same thing it definately looks different and has an extra function "2 input switching" it has been such a long time since i have looked at either modulator or my 2 A1000s (there at my mums). |

The A520 should plug straight into the RGB port.
The one with RGB written under it ![]() You then have two possible combinations. Use the rf out, in which case you need the Y-splitter cable that takes the sound from the two white audio outs and plugs into the side of the A520. Or use the composite video out from the A520 and use the two white audio ports for the stereo sound. But by the looks of it the A1000 has a composite video out anyway (that white one on the far right?) The 2nd option is better, but if you're TV supports RGB Scart, try and get an amiga rgb scart lead. Hope that helps ![]() |

sorry i cant make out which one says rgb
are you saying its the first questionmarked port?? im not sure what the last one does but i wouldve tried it over the years since i had my vcr plugged into my monitor that way or maybe not, but why would amiga 1000 come with rgb leads for the monitor if you could feed the composite straight into it i think it mightve been a black&white signal but im not sure now as long as the tv modulator plugs into that first port the audio can go straight to my amp I'll let you know what the end one does in few days when i try it |

As you've found out all three of those are video. The far right (RCA jack) is composite video, the middle is RF/modulator output (which can also be used for composite), and the left is the standard Amiga RGB.

The composite (phono) jack standard on the A1000 i think is monochrome output composite only, not RGB composite.
Correct me if im wrong. Oops someone posted this already ![]() |
