The CD32 version of "Sleepwalker" contains a long intro/trailer video from Inferno. The sequences shown are from the released PC version, with slightly different music. As the game was published by Ocean (who also published Sleepwalker) they probably thought it would be a good marketing idea to show these "amazing" (at the time) cgi movies right before the intro of a completely different game - everytime you start it. Useful info for HOL maybe?

I'll take a look at the video on the CD of Sleepwalker later.

A note in the entry for Inferno:
http://hol.abime.net/4219
like:
"A trailer for Inferno is displayed each time the CD for Sleepwalker CD32 is loaded. Sleepwalker and Inferno were both published by Ocean. The trailer is based on 3D animations from the released PC version of Inferno"?

I doubt Inferno was ever started on the CD32... But i'd like to see Megarace if retrosale still have this alpha version.

Cryo were also doing a CD32 conversion of Dune. It wasn't ever released but I remember Philippe Ulrich saying in a french magazine in may 1994 that the game was due for release in september 1994. I guess it was near to be completed also.

I have checked the video at the beginning of Sleepwalker.

I guess the file on the CD is inf.xl
Anyone know how to convert it to some format that can be uploaded to Youtube? It might be useful to do that.

The first notes of the trailer music remind me of something else but I cannot remember right now. Right now, I'd say that it sounds like part of the soundtrack for the Dune movie but I am far from sure.
Among the credited musicians, only one seems to have detailed credits. But I cannot point a game that would match the music pattern.

Anyway, back on topic, I edited a bit the note that I suggest adding in the game entry for Sleepwalker.

Thanks but it did not work.

It is a video file (46*664*228 bytes) so it was probably compressed with a codec that the CD32 could read at the time.

Thanks. That's probably that format.

But since there does not seem to be any converter, I guess the best option is to record directly from Winuae

Quick and dirty video of the trailer:
[ Show youtube player ]

9 seconds worth of Ocean logo at the beginning and probably not the most accurate video ratio but who cares when you can enjoy such a trailer .
