Somehow Jet Pilot Rising, a superb little homebrew SNES game featuring a kitty cat riding a rocket, flew under the radar.
Simple but quite addictive gameplay and it's got cats which doesn't hurt either.

I've seen some reviews on YouTube but they're all for the old v1.0 version.

Since I know you feature rom hacks now and then, this might be interesting news for you.
[ Show youtube player ]

Vitor Vilela has released an SA1 conversion bps patch for applying on a clean US rom.

As you probably know, the original game suffers from a huge amount of slowdowns, not anymore though.
This is how it should have been from the start.
Link to patch is in YouTube description.

Looks nice. Always amazing what these hacking guys can do. But how does it work on real hardware? Do you need a SD2SNES, or a game with a SA-1 chip and replace the game eprom?

SD2SNES have SA1 support so yes, idk about other flashcarts such as Super Everdrive though.
Even the newer SD2SNES Pro have SA1+MSU1 support (simultaneously), i.e Super Mario RPG MSU1 works with full PCM audio.
