Color Cycle anim to GIF

Hi all,

I've been trying to export color cycle animations made in DPaint/Brilliance 2 out in to GIFs. I've had some success importing to GrapicsConverter11 and exporting as a gif there, But with multiple cycles it will play one cycle at a time.

Screen capture is also an option but that makes the colors brighten and I really don't like the format since it is not scalable.

Another option is using a script for Aseprite https://community.aseprite.org/t/col...9-12-2020/7604

That works better as you can work in layers until you export it as a gif.

Does anyone else here have a solution for exporting these images to gif? atm Im emulating the amiga, so getting files off the amiga to my mac is no issue.

Why not try mtPaint v3.51
Windows and Linux, but it works just fine under Wine on a Mac or Raspberry Pi.

https://github.com/wjaguar/mtPaint

http://mtpaint.sourceforge.net/

In the mtPaint Handbook section 9, it covers this topic…

http://mtpaint.sourceforge.net/handb...p_09.html#SEC4

…also the new version loads and saves iff/ilbm.

Now this looks exactly like what I need. Thanks! Now I just need to find out if Wine will work on OSX Big Sur: sometimes I hate working on a Mac…

Sorry, yes… I meant mtPaint v3.50 (although on
https://github.com/wjaguar/mtPaint
the README says …
“mtPaint 3.51 - Copyright (C) 2004-2021 The Authors”

I have tried out the process from the Handbook…

9.Animation

Once you have created an animation you are happy with, you can create an animated GIF using the following steps:
• Load the original image, in order to clear the undo history.
• Set up the palette shifter with the values you want, and using the play button to preview the results.
• Press the 'Create Frames' button and close the palette shifter window.
• Undo one frame by pressing Ctrl-Z.
• Select 'Export Undo Images' from the File menu and place the files in a new directory somehwere using the filename 'out'. Make sure you select the GIF file type.
• Load one of these undo frames such as out001.gif.
• Select 'Export Animated GIF' from the File menu and choose a suitable filename and delay.

…on my Mac under Wine and it does indeed work!

Thank you for the response! mtPaint worked like a charm. I have an old PC that i use for some other outdated software so have not tried to make Wine work.

I'm sure Pro Motion would be a good choice as well for this type of work.
