My daughter is almost seven and loves the Amiga. I introduced it to her when she was four. I mostly choose games with a cheat mode, not because I don't think she cannot learn how to properly play one but because she is only allowed a couple of hours every two weeks, so she doesn't have the time to master them.
I started her with Shufflepuck Café, then Pinball Dreams. Nowadays we play Naught Ones AGA and Rodland. Last edited by alkis21; 08 February 2020 at 17:23. |

When Dad brought home a A500 back when we were kids it came with about 200 copied games.
Memories stand out that the first games we played and actually enjoyed were SWIV, Monkey Island, Bloody Money, Shadow of the Beast, Superfrog and Pinball Fantasies. Now I'm 36, still enjoy and play the above and the memories flood back |

If I had kids I wouldn't know where to begin with games.
I'd probably just play the ones I like and see if they would find any of it interesting. I'm so far removed from "the latest stuff" these days I wouldn't have a clue what I would be up against even. It would be the same with my "old movies" and my "old music", I would just have to see what rubbs off on them I guess. |

Part of their education should be to play retro stuff, that's where you come in. The kids will figure out what they want to play far faster than you will.

Serial linked Stunt Car Racer. Although they have both hit teenage rebellion and don’t have time for their old Dad anymore.

***edit*** Probably worth mentioning that a lot of us where young back when Amigas where in their prime, so I'm sure a lot of the games anyways where aimed at kids of different ages. I'll go out on a limb and say aimed at teens and above mostly I dunno but hopefully my point is understood. |

You're not wrong, it was exactly that higher level of maturity that attracted me to Amiga games as a kid, because I was obsessed with belonging to the adult crowd and do the things I wasn't allowed to do. I wasn't playing Mario, I was playing Monkey Island and Police Quest.

When my lad was barely able to sit upright, he was pretty entertained with Soundtracker - just bashing keys and playing drums - he loved it.
Now he's 30(!) and quite often still plays the great Deluxe Galaga on on my emu cab. We still have the same original hiscore tables from back in the day! My wife spent a lot of her pregnancy playing Giana sisters and Buggy Boy. |

My daughter was 5 when she came to my computer room and saw me play Pinball Dreams. After a moment she wanted to try it and really enjoyed it. Another game that we have played on Amiga and C64 is Bubble Bobble. She often asks if we would play it together and it has been great fun Latest game we have played together is Mario Kart 8 on WiiU.
I was one of the ppl in our local Commodore FB group to mention about this and what good fun it was. Anyway, some time ago a local legend that has been important in computing magazines said in an interview that he was sorry for the kids that were made to play old games in our FB group. To be honest that remark made me a bit sad. I have not mentioned the fun we have together playing Bubble Bobble or Pinball Dreams again. |
