Help with A1200 with Subway 2021 and Anaiis

Decided to treat my A1200 to some more extras.

I've now got a Subway 2021 USB card connected to a 4-way clockport extension (revision H) from Alinea. I installed Anaiis (latest from Aminet) and it correctly detects the board, and when I plug in a USB stick it shows up in Anaiis prefs (and disappears/reappears when I unplug/plug the USB stick).

But this is where my success ends! How do I access files on the USB stick and use a USB mouse? I can't get a disk icon to appear for the USB stick (it's formatted to fat32 and I have fat32 installed in SYS:L) and my wireless Logitech mouse refuses to work (it works fine with my TruMouse mouse port adapter).

Any help much appreciated!

Yeah, it's the Anaiis software for the Subway 2021, not Poseidon.

Two steps forward, one step back...

By adding the tooltype "FILESYSTEM=l:fat95" to the icon for "massive" I get a drive icon called "AmigaUSB" (which is what I called the drive when I formatted it in Windows) and I can access files on the USB stick. It was supposed to detect the filesystem by reading block 0, but that doesn't seem to work.

The problem now is that the system runs incredibly slowly (slow to respond to movements, clicks, etc) until I reboot.

I also had a similar problem with Anaiis, everything was very slow because it was validating the disk, from the shell check the status of the disk with the info command, maybe you just have to wait.

Yes, after further investigation, it seems that the system slow-down lasts about a minute and then returns to normal. The USB drive remains useable after that. I've no idea what's causing it.

No luck on using a mouse either, maybe it just doesn't work with wireless mouse and USB wireless dongles.

For the mouse:
Have a look to the Anaiis program, Interfaces menu the (3,1,2) should be "in use", and something should be visible in Endpoints when moving the mouse.
Sometimes a simple 4€ mouse works... where a 25€ don't...
Personnaly I encouter a strange behaviour with TheMouse from Retrogames.
It's seems to hang, in fact not, the uhc124 chip send always timeout for the IN request.
No cure for that.

For the FAT32 disk:
if it contents a MBR (Master Boot Record), fat95 of crossdosfilesystem (AmigaOS 3.1.3 and up, compatible with 3.1) must be in l:
if it contents a BPB (Bios Parameter Block), only crossdosfilesystem is able to manage it, in superdisk mode the tag will be MSD\0 or in partition mode, MSH\0.
The RAM:usbkey0 file contents the mountlist, which can be edited/changed.
assign dismount/remove and re-mount the disk with this file.
To workaround all this, use a RDB and format a partition on it.
The best result is with pfs3aio. After that it's easy to transfer files with PC/WinUAE and the Amiga, even under WB 1.3.

For the speed:
Anaiis/Preferences/System
Quantum 3
Advanced mode
=> usb mouse/keyboard may hang with intense usb activity, mere 68000 ideal settings.

If you set
Quantum 10
Advanced mode
=> original mouse/original keyboard may hang, floppy are slowed, 680x0 ideal settings.

If you set
Quantum 10
no Advanced mode
=> disks may have read/write errors, floppy slowed, HID only settings.

I can see the values in Endpoints changing when I move the mouse, click the left and right buttons, scroll the wheel, and click the wheel. But it doesn't seem to translate into moving the mouse pointer or responding to clicks.

When I formatted the USB stick to pfs3aio, it didn't work at all with massive. But perhaps the tooltypes are wrong, do you know what they should be?

None of these make any difference to the system slow-down, which for each value still lasts about a minute.

If that can help, i have noticed myself that this mouse works fine with very few USB adapters. For me, only HID2AMI. Every other i have don't work, including one from Micromiga shop and older ones which looks like Rys MK2 but can't confirm the specifications.
They say it should work with the one called Mouster.
Maybe this is related to how the mouse speaks with Anaiis.

Hi, requested file attached, sorry for the delay in replying. Thanks!

I don't know why it says I have a 68040, I have a 68080 (Vampire V2 V1200).
Attached Files
File Type: txt anaiis.prefs.txt (8.4 KB, 62 views)

Thanks,
As I use 3.2 includes by now, I miss the 68080 define in the exec/execbase.h.
It was better before...

Is the endpoint starts with 02 ? and is 8 bytes long ?
The Telink and Lenovo start with 01 (the report 1) and 8 bytes long, that explain why it doesn't work.

You can't format pfsaio this way.
You must use an RDB, even for a single partition, don't forget to set the pfs3aio as a filesystem in the RDB.

HDToolbox (3.1.4 and up)
HDInstTools (any 1.3 and up)

Yes, it starts with 02. Will my mouse never work, do only certain USB mice work?

Sorry, I didn't mean that I formatted it with massive. I used HDToolBox in the way that you described. Then it doesn't show up in massive.

Thanks!

In the next release, sure.

The L: directory must contain pfs3 renamed from pfs3aio, for the moment.
In the future, the first call to pfs3 will load it from the RDB.

From a CLI, in the directory where the massive is stored.
run >NIL: massive mountall unmount readwrite pri=15 wait=60 splash
or double click the massive icon from workbench.

A new version is available.
http://aminet.net/package/driver/other/anaiis

nothing new concerning the massstorage but a huge fix concerning the usbresource.library

bootmouse.usbhd and hid.usbhd from Sirion 1.3 are working.
put once the wanted driver in devs:anaiis/fd and launch the callfunction program.
all this is experimental but will integrated in a future version.
the hid.usbhd can't be removed => guru #4 if you try.

Many thanks for the new version.

No matter what I do or configure, I just can't get a USB mouse to work with my Subway 2021. I've got a Logitech wireless mouse, a Steel Series wired mouse, and an extremely basic unbranded wired mouse. None work.

Please could you talk me through the configuration like I'm a complete idiot? From installation of Anaiis with default settings, to configuring it for a mouse to work.

For all 3 mice, I can see the values in "Endpoints" changing when I move the mouse, press buttons, etc. But none translate to moving the pointer.

Many thanks!

according the anaiis.prefs.txt you give
Advanced Mode is not set (should be set)
Spoof like usbsys.device is set

If it don't work with internal drivers, you can unset internal driver.
copy bootmouse.usbhd in devs:anaiis/fd and launch the call function program.

Excellent, thank you. And thank you for being patient with me!

I've attached the output of callfunction, and various other pages. Should the mouse now be working? Still not getting any input from it.
