http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=150077883243
The fastest IDE interface for the A2000 reaching speeds of 10Mb/s and it went for £11.50 ![]() How come I never get auctions like that? |

Yes it is autobooting, 8Meg FastRAM upgrade and the fastest (low cpu) IDE controller ever made for the Amiga

To be honest I dont know. I suspect a combination of:
1) Lazy designers (IDE lends itself to PIO and SCSI to DMA) 2) Price (PIO design is much cheaper than custom DMA one) 3) PIO mode (16MB/sec) being faster than the Amiga's DMA channel (which tops out at 10MB/s) with a good (060/PPC) CPU. 4) Technical problems? Can you DMA to FASTRAM? (I really should get to know my DMAC/Agnus/Alice capability!) Last edited by alexh; 15 January 2007 at 22:44. |

Take heart, there's a Cyberstorm PPC card up for auction at the moment that shouldn't go for much over AU$1,000......

How good is a 10MB/s card on a ~3.5MB/s bus?

The "Blurb" says it reaches peak speeds exceeding the Zorro theoretical limit of 3.5Mbyte/sec using:

Reviews at the time said that it was significantly faster than a GVP HD8+ with a GURU ROM Last edited by alexh; 17 January 2007 at 09:42. |
