Hi all I need a 32mb 72pin simm 60ns that is known to work on an Apollo1240

I will swap it for a brand new very thin and small (5cmx2mx0.5cm ish) 64mb USB memory stick and a brand new Data projector laser pointer with Infra read page turner and USB receiver.

Chances are, it will TAKE a 64MB simm, but only ADDRESS the 32MB.

hmmm true whiteB.

I bought a random one off of ebay which didnt work, so I need one that is known to work on an Apollo1240.
(if anyone is using one, could you let me know which brand it is?)
Also I have seen 64mb (2x32mb) matched pairs. Can a single simm be used alone, or must they remain as a pair?

Thanks though....

Of course you can use just one, they are usually sold in pairs though. They are everywhere on ebay.

Now this is odd...
I bought a 64mhz crystal and also a 32mb Simm from amigakit.com which was guaranteed compatible with the Apollo1240.
On fitting the new simm, guess what.... I had the same issues that I had with other Simms - http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=24418

Now having resigned myself to the fact that I am only ever going to get 16mb on my card, I decided to put the 64mhz crystal in and see what sort of a performance boost I would get. I am glad to say my MIPS jumped from 18.94 with the 040 at 25mhz to 24.34 with it at 32mhz.

Happy with that, I suddenly realised that the new crystal had changed the timing of my board and maybe I should try the Simm from amigakit.com again.

Lo and behold the system booted first time showing 32mb fastram, and has been stable for two days!

How odd!!

I have found my friends that spelling is an art form... a progressive one at that...

take mine for example, i have found that between 10pm and 12 its late monne to early rembrant, then from 12 till 2 its pretty much early rennaisons with 2 till 6 flagrantly picasso.

[edit]

I have also noted in this that alcohole can expediate the progressive nature of art in these matters
