WHDLoad: Devs:Kickstarts/kick40068.A1200 Error

Hello all,
This is my very first post here, and I am glad to be part of this great community! OK, on my ClassicWB WinUAE (Amiga 4000 configuration), when I drag the game FlinkCD32 (Flink_v2.2_CD32) to the desktop and try to run the game, I get this error message:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4890168...in/photostream

Now according to this:
http://eabmobile.abime.net/showthrea...776#post708776

"I need an A1200 kickstart 3.1 image, renamed to Devs:Kickstarts/kick40068.A1200"

The problem is I am not sure how to accomplish this.

Would you let me know the step by step installing this game (and other WHDLoad games?)

I really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Since you already found out how to extract the games on your setup, you just need the kickstart files. I guess reading this thread might already explain it good enough : http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=58969

Well, I just dragged the zip file (the game's zip file) onto my WinUAE open window and clicked on the game icon...that's where I get the error message.

The problem is that I am not sure where to put the RTB file (skick346) and other files. my WinUAE directory does NOT contain a hd\devs\kickstarts\ sub-folder. should I create one?

Thanks!

Thanks for the PM and other messages. Now what is this ROM file that they talk about here:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=58969

OK, in my ClassicWB folder there was no hd\devs\kickstarts\ subfolders, so I went ahead and created all three folders. I copied the kick40068.A1200 in there and copied the skick346.RAR in there as well. I still get the same error.

Now, in my ClassicWB folder was a subfolder called HARD DISK so I deleted the hd\devs\kickstarts\ and created HARD DISK\devs\kickstarts\instead and copied the kick40068.A1200 and skick346.RAR there, but I still get the same error.

Do I need to UnRAR the skick346.RAR file?

I simply drage the game (Flink_v2.2_CD32.RAR) from my Windows desktop into the ClassicWB Amiga 4000 window, and open the icon on its desktop and click on the games icon. after getting the WHDLoad copyright message, I get the same error. Would you kindly please help!?

There is already a sticky in the ClassicWB forum and multiple links on the main webpage explaining what you need:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=38299

ClassicWB does already contain the correct drawers (DH0:Devs/Kickstarts/) and RTB files, just need to dump the correct kickstarts as described.

You need to place the files actually on the Amiga emulated hard drive (System.HDF file), in the Classic Workbench, NOT just in the WinUAE folder if that's what you are doing.

Would you kindly let me know how to do this?

Also which version on ClassicWB should I choose? There are full,lite,etc...I have chosen the WinUAE version.

thanks.

Since you are just starting out, stick to the WinUAE version.

The files you need are listed in my previous link. You need to search and find the relevant kickstarts, or get them from Amiga Forever package (they are still sold commercially so we can't post them publically or we get into trouble) and rename them as outlined.

Place the kickstart files in the ClassicWB/PC directory whilst in Windows, then boot into the Amiga Workbench by starting WinUAE.

Copy the files from the PC: drawer you can see on the Workbench (this drawer is the same PC folder you see in Windows), to the System:Devs/Kickstart drawer. You can do this by dragging, or opening up Dopus and doing it from there.

To Bloodwych,
Thanks so much for the simple instructions, that made perfect sense. Now, where I need to place the skick346.RAR file then? (in Windows I mean)

And after that can I simply drage Flink_v2.2_CD32.RAR (Flink Game) into A4000 desktop and launch its icon?

Ok, it is working but the game is very SLOW!

Thanks!

!
WinUAE won't show any interest about where you put your skick346.RAR. (nor will any REAL Amiga)
As you said, "in Windows". And in Windows, you can just put it anywhere you want to, for it won't be used anyway.
DO FORGET about the .RAR in WinUAE world (i. e. always do!), but instead, get the contents out of the archive (in particular the .RTS file will be sufficient) and place it in your ...devs/kickstarts folder.

Using the rar directly as-is is a mission impossible, so don't bother.
You may, however, want to keep the .rar stored away somewhere in order not to have to download it again.

It's the .RTB file. Let's not add even more confusion here

To run FLINK you must use an operating system Amiga AGA, in addition to Kick file with .RTB extension, you also need real Kickstart that you will need to rename. The KickStart 3.1 It must be appointed Kick40068.a1200, or Kick40068.a4000, see my screenshot.

Delete the double post!

kick40068.A1200 is not legally downloadable for free. (found it easily via Google from Poland...)
