:-) I noticed that, might take a look and see what it's like. Maybe recreate a couple of the maps with those tilesets

A little off-topic, but check out this video of Crystal Cove which is a grid-based dungeon horror game for the Oculus Rift. Imagine being able to play Grimrock like this!

Me and a couple of buddies share-ordered the DK2 back in July and we're still waiting for any info on when it's going to get accepted and shipped, can't wait to try it, although my seasickness isn't going to help me enjoy it, lol.

EDIT: when it comes to Grimrock... how on earth would you play it without looking at your keyboard or your mouse? For now all Oculus games are on rails, similar to most of the shittiest shits on them consoles for Kinect.

Not really, I've seen plenty of videos where the player can just freely walk around. But do you want to say that even without the Oculus Rift you can only play Grimrock when you can look at your input devices? I hope not!

Yes, just like in the above video, but the gameplay is "on rails" he can't interact with anything, there's this "find hidden button" quest where he goes up a square and there it is, instant solve.

No, I mean that when you can't even see where the device is located in front of you becase your entire area of view is covered by the Oculus it's very very VERY hard for your fingers to pin-point the exact button you want to press, even if you do typing for a living your whole life.

Yeah that was an instant-buy. I'm not even going to wait for the upcoming season sales, this puppy is just worth the money.

EDIT:

Ha! Had my first rage quit already. Got dogpiled by a couple of rogue rats and then realized I hadn't saved in like an hour. I've been spoiled by auto save features. Learn from my failures: if you see stairs going down, save manually!

Killer game from what I have played so far. Excellent graphics, atmosphere and music. The outdoor areas really give the game much more depth. I'm about 5 hours in - deep in the Twigroot Tunnels. Some nice improvements to the original. I also like how they incorporated the 'Demon/Dark Souls' boss style encounters. Having lots of fun with this. Behind 'Dark Souls 2' this, so far, is easily my second favorite game of the year.

Yep, the game is epic; it was a good choice to basically expand on the first game and polish it rather than trying to reinvent it entirely. With the added benefit that the editing tools are now included right from the start.

Its not so much optimized yet though, the outside areas are a bit heavy on my aging machine and that is really not necessary. But they did seem to have tested it properly, I've not seen a single glitch or crash at all without any patch.

EDIT: well, one tiny glitch which I had to see happen a few times to really believe it is true. Throwing weapons very rarely can vanish into a wall :/ Not that they're really THAT useful beyond the first level and they're easily restocked, so big whoop.

Regardless of my experiences, there is still a large list of bugfixes done today:

Can you just buy and download without Steam or any other spyware getting installed?

Yes, but all 3 options say "steam key"... or is that an extra over the normal download without steam?

Just buy the GoG version it does NOT need the steam key, I have it I am playing it, it does NOT need a the steam key to run.

http://www.gog.com/game/legend_of_grimrock_2

Read the box on the right hand side, DRM free no online activation required.

Their site does state DRM free + steam key, they add the key in case you want it I would say, just be safe and buy from the GoG link above.
