Server timeout issue

Hi everybody,

did anyone notice the same thing as me with these forums?
Some weeks ago, it did not yet happen at a such high frequency to me that I had to repeatedly reload pages here, until they were finally displayed - as the situation is now.
Instead, I often get messages like

Code:

The server at eab.abime.net is taking too long to respond

These denote timeout situations. (Firefox 4 and Firefox 6.0a nightlies, even though I don't think the browser used actually matters here)

Could it be due to an increasing complexity in PHP code? This MAY make it necessary to gently (!) raise the value in the config section of the web server (Apache I presume?), indicating how long the server will wait for the completion of the (backend-generated) page until it finally times out.

I sometimes get problems with pages loading up, but these are invariably caused by another server; either a Skype icon or Photobucket images failing to be found quickly enough. The end result is always that the page loads up without the pictures shown; I've not yet had the abime.net slow response message.

I've had issues recently where the browser sits saying "waiting for eab.abime.net..." for a while and doesn't load the page. Then I just refresh (sometimes more than once) and then it loads ok.

I just assumed it was my crappy internet, which is probably is

Same here, doesn't happen very often though so I don't mind.

This is actually one of the more accessible websites I visit. It rarely slows down, and the few times it has come to a halt I've just pressed reload and it would respond fine.

Last week i had exactly the same problem for a few days, never had this issue before.
It seemed, as this issue affected "abime.net" only for me and same with IE.
But today it seems to load fine again.

Exactly that's what it is. The problem seems to have been fixed meanwhile. Haven't had this for weeks now. Fingers crossed it's going to stay that way.

the same problem was here, at Hannover, Germany

If you want to know if it's only your connection or provider or if the EAB server makes this trouble go to a http proxy like:

http://anonymouse.org/anonwww_de.html

http://www.guardster.com/free/

and try EAB from there. Btw, today I had some problems with Aminet and the same happend via these proxies, so my connection was ok.
