No ROM files in download...help please

I'm a bit of a beginner here so bear with me please. I've downloaded WINUAE but it's saying all my ROMs are unavailable. I've rescanned over and over but it's making no difference at all.

I noticed in another thread that someone mentioned a ROMs folder but I don't seem to have one of those either.

Any ideas please? Hope so cos this is winding me up now

Welcome to EAB Froots!

Er.... you need to buy the Kickstart ROMs which are Copyright, from www.amigaforever.com before you can begin to play all those free Amiga classics as mentioned in FAQ.

http://www.amigaforever.com/system/ gives a more detailed breakdown of why you need Kickstart ROMs.

If you don't own an Amiga, you have to buy this: AmigaForever or one of these: Amiga Classix. Otherwise there is no legal way to get the ROM files needed by WinUAE.

Yeah, dude, you gotta do as they say, not as they do

Sanctimonious tip #4759: Don't download them of Emule, Bitorrent, or any of the P2P apps in there. Or grab them from whomever might've PM'ed you by now.

Just buy again what you already payed for, probably more than once, over ten years ago

I agree with this from Ultron.......Sanctimonious tip #4759: Don't download them of Emule, Bitorrent, or any of the P2P apps in there. Or grab them from whomever might've PM'ed you by now.

I made the mistake of d/l thru Emule a couple of years ago and on opening the RAR image it was virus/spyware laden. So I ended up buying it from Amiga Forever and believe me it's nice to have legal files!!!!!

A virus on the roms?. are you sure the virus wa't on the autoextract rar file?.
From what i know, the Amiga roms aren't executable on win.

It was in the RAR archive, not the ROMS, sorry shoulda said!! I made the typical sad mistkae of opening the archive without running the v checker & got a bloody worm installed. Got rid of it tho thank christ, but never again for an RAR or EXE file of Emule!!

Well you can't get a virus from a RAR file itself (only any .exe/.com/.scr/.pif files within it) unless it was like a .rar.exe (one of those self-extracting thingies). The closest you can get is what I think is called a zip-bomb which is a really tiny compressed file which is just full of 0's so is easily compressed which can expand to a multi-gigabyte file flooding the drive.

I'd buy the online version but I need a non-free email address otherwise they don't accept the payment.

Tight-arses eh?

Looks like I'll have to get it delivered or something. Boooooo!

It's worth buying the version with the extra content - the video material about Commodore is interesting.

If you dont alraedy own an AMIGA then AMIGA FOREVER is well worth paying for to use as an emulator has evry thing you need to get started if you get the download version ie non cd you will need to MOUNT the ISO IMAGE onto a VIRTUAL DRIVE one of the best programmes to use is Demon Tools you can download it for free from there site then burn the image with nero or any other decent burn programme to a cd and also install it from the ISO its already got workbench 1.3 and 3.1 in it plus some games and demos and if you wanted to just download classic workbench and install it ideal for laptops as well as tower units and is not too expensive .
